This time I am focusing on the qualities we need to possess and develop in order to be successful in achieving out goals. Success means different things to different people. It can mean power or money or love or even creativity. Whatever our definition of success it is something we are striving for in our lives. Here are what are commonly considered the five laws of success!

1. Desire

Never be afraid of really wanting something. When we really desire something we let absolutely nothing get in our way. Desire is a force and this force gives rise to determination. The combination of determination and desire means that we will make sacrifices to get what we want and that giving up is never an option. Think about an area of your life in which you have succeeded. How much did you sacrifice in order to get that thing? How intensely did you want it? Sometimes things come easily to us, and that’s great. Other times we really have to convince the universe we want it and only then does everything come together for us to have it. We have to have a burning desire for something.

Are you sure you want it enough? Do this test. Take a piece of paper and write down all the reasons WHY you want to achieve your goal. List all the benefits you can imagine. The more reasons you find, the stronger your desire will get. In order to increase your desire, read this list of benefits every morning so that you will stay connected with your goal during the day. As a result you will be more motivated and inspired.

2. Belief

Be careful of what you believe. If you don't believe that you can achieve your goal, you won’t. In order to achieve anything, you must believe it is possible at an extremely deep level. As our unconscious minds do not know the difference between dreams and reality, whatever we feed it will drive our actions to create that exact picture. If you are totally sure of achieving your goal, you will have a clear picture of achieving it and your subconscious mind will automatically drive your behaviour to create this picture in reality. Can you see yourself having achieved your goal? Do you have any doubts at all that you can and will achieve them? If you are having doubts practice visualization every night before you go to sleep. Close your eyes and create a very real and detailed mental picture of you having achieved your dream. Feel what it feels like as it is the feelings that will motivate you into action. Use your emotions to create rock solid belief in yourself and your ability to achieve your goals.

3. Positive Mental Attitude

Attitude is everything. It is expressed by us in the way we see the things around us, the way we deal with the situations we face in our life and ultimately the way we think about life. Listen to yourself as often as you can. Listen to the way you talk to yourself. If your thoughts are negative such as ‘Everyone hates me, life is tough,’, then you have work to do. We cannot control what life throws at us, but we can control our attitude to wards it. Positivity is like a magnet for success. If you maintain a positive attitude no matter what, success will find its way to you. Learn from failure as every failure brings you one step closer to success. Maintain a positive attitude by: listening to yourself; turning negative into positive; getting enough sleep so you don’t wake tired and depressed; putting things in perspective by looking at the bigger picture; taking a break even if it’s just a walk or a short drive and finally, choose to have a positive attitude.

4. Persistence

There are lots and lots of talented people out there. What is the difference between the ones that succeed and the ones that do not? Persistence is the difference. When you were trying to achieve your goal how many times did you stop trying after the first failure. Success doesn’t happen after the first attempt as there are always obstacles on the way to success as they are just part of life. Colonel Sanders’ recipe was rejected over 1000 times before he could get anyone to produce it for him. The book ‘Chicken Soup for the Soul’ was rejected by publishers 170 times - now it's sold 70 million copies! Success is the consequence of a person’s willingness to make relentless step by step efforts.

5. Goal-Setting

Goal setting is the most powerful tool you have to achieve success. Goals keep you focused. They keep you motivated. Goal Setting helps you to create step-by-step plan to your success. Your dreams will never be more than that without goal setting. Here are some of the differences between dreams and goals: Goals have a deadline; Goals are specific; Goals are written down and Goals have a clear step-by-step plan. So, set yourself some goals. Make them specific, measurable (quantifiable), action-oriented, realistic and lastly, create a deadline for yourself!

Take note of the above and weave them into your plans for your life...

Until next time!
