Post Valentine's Day

I hope you had a great Valentine’s Day! In the wake of that special day, here are some thoughts.

Keep it light!

If Valentine’s Day wasn’t all that you had hoped it would be, don’t fret about it. Taking life too seriously can be counter productive and certainly doesn’t help you to develop loving relationships. Learn to smile at yourself. Or me, if you like! A number of people have asked me if what I wrote about my daughter last week was true. Yes, I really was watching TV whilst she and her boyfriend had a candlelit dinner and danced to Frank Sinatra in the other room!!!

Don’t be afraid to want what you want

If you didn’t have anyone to celebrate the day with and you really do want a partner, then admit it to yourself NOW! By doing this, by committing fully to wanting something, you are far more likely to get it. It is not useful to be in denial over the way you feel as you send a mixed message out into the world and get mixed messages back!

Take action to get to the next level!

If you do want a relationship or you want to take your present relationship one step further, take action to get what you want. Get out and meet new people as much as you possibly can. The more people you meet, the more you increase your chances of finding a partner. Going one step further towards what you want in any relationship requires a change in your behaviour. Remember that if you do what you always did, you get what you always got!

Confront your fears!

If there is something stopping you from taking that next step, an unwillingness to open up or to commit, or even to admit that that is what you want, then confront it NOW. Ask yourself, what am I afraid of? Fear is the greatest obstacle to finding and enjoying a loving relationship. Fear is not real, it is not a ‘fact’. It is useful to see fear as False Evidence Appearing Real. Doing so can really change your perspective and give you the courage to go forward and create what you really want for your life!

Spend some time with the people the love!
