De-clutter madness!

Last week I encouraged you to clear out the clutter in your physical environment as a precursor to creating the new you!

Transformation

Having thrown away every possession you no longer need or want(!), you are ready to give the rest of your life a spring clean too! All the areas of our lives fall into these categories: physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual. This week we will address one issue from the emotional category.

Out with the old and in with the new!

How you choose to feel? What feelings do you choose to experience on a daily basis? It is easy to ‘fall into’ our feelings, and allow them to take us over, rather than us controlling them. What we do not realise until we practice it on a regular basis is that we are in total control of our emotional life and we can take that control any time we want.

What do you want to feel? Feel it now?

Whatever it is you want to feel, decide to feel it, NOW! You can choose to discard immediately the feelings you no longer want to experience and replace them with ones that you do want to feel. Try this exercise:

Close your eyes and relax your body. Sit quietly and decide what feeling you want to experience. Remember a time when you felt that way. Think of that time in as much detail as possible and describe it to yourself. Recreate that feeling within you. Take a couple of minutes to do this.

Open your eyes. If you have done this exercise fully you will now ‘feel’ what you have decided to feel.

Use this technique as much as you need to so as to keep familiarising yourself with your new choice of feeling.

Choose new and better feelings about yourself and your life?

It may take practice over time, but by taking the old feelings and replacing them with the new, you will be making a significant contribution to creating a new and more positive you!

Your emotional life is your own, don’t let your feelings, or anyone else, take charge of it!

You are not alone!
